Don't Ever Pass These Up!

I almost passed this one up.
I was at the thrift store and saw this little foot stool.  It was stained dark and was covered in furry leopard fabric.
I almost didn't see it's potential!

I don't paint everything I find at thrift stores...but when you picture a piece of furniture painted white/cream or even French blue, or black... All of a sudden you start to SEE the unique lines and special features of the piece, not just the ugly finish, ugly fabric, dirt or whatever.

I painted it ivory, then did a little bit of a distressed finish to the wood.
I made a cute little oatmeal linen slipcover for it.

Before that I took off the furry leopard fabric.
Then I recycled a white cloth napkin and stapled it over the padding. That's how little this thing is!

So...again...
they usually look SO ugly in the thrift stores or yard sales. They may not be your style at all!
So imagine it transformed and make it "your style"!!
I hope this gives you one idea and a little inspiration to take one home and make it your own.

Thanks for looking!

Kelly

You are so right, Kelly! Sometimes you just have to have an open mind when looking in thrift stores. You gotta look past the ugly! Your redo made this little stool a real beauty!

Kelly,

I'm such a nut... I can't remember if I left a comment... (thinking you have readers approval). I got side tracked by looking at your other ideas.

Anyhoo, I have a little dressing table stool with a lid, that I will be recovering... someday ;)

Love what you've done with the stool. I purchased one at a garage sale last year with good intentions of doing something similar...you have inspired me to do it!!
