Thrift Store Finds And A Question??

I went out today to my flea market fabric lady to stock up on her beautiful linen fabric she seems to have lately.  Well, while I'm on that part of town, I always stop into my favorite thrift stores.  Between the 2 of them I found a lot of good stuff!

First I got this mirror for my bathroom,  the little foot stool (which needs a lot of TLC) and this cute, unique, FILTHY, lamp.

Here's a close up of the dirt.  Where was this thing stored??
I wouldn't even bring it in my house until I took a toothbrush to it.

After some scrubbing, look how cute it is.  Right now it's in pieces and ready to be rewired.  I'm not sure what I'll do with the damage to the little metal stand.  I sort of like the aged brass look.  But that one part is very oxidized and won't come clean.

Aren't the little gold circles/ovals cute?!

I also got the silver plate candle holder and this huge vase.  I'll fill it with white tiny pumpkins for fall, and sparkly beads or red berries for Christmas.

These are still in the bed of my truck.  One is a very old turned dowel headboard and footboard.  I may make a bench out of it, because I DO NOT have a bed to use it on.  I really like the dark wood color, and probably wont paint it.

This one is a king headboard.  That's all ther was to it.  I will paint this one for sure.  Ivory with a sanded distressed finish.  I'll use it for our master bedroom.  I think it's gonna look pretty with a fresh coat of paint.

See the little flower detail on it?

Here's My Question...

What do I do with this?!?   It  reminds me of the one  *Visual *Vamp Showed in her post about a Swedish chandelier.  It's got a wooden base and the same kind of arms as the one she has pictured. She shows a double and a single.
(scroll through her post to see the single one.)

It's pretty big. 23" tall and 25" wide.
But these funny candle holders that won't come off.

The little dangle at the bottom is metal.  What would you do to this?
I love it, but I'm sort of at a loss as to what to do to it.
Thanks for any info or suggestions.
Oh and the final total for EVERYTHING...
$50.00
That's... headboard/footboards for 2 beds, cool chandelier, cute lamp, foot stool, mirror, giant vase, silver candle stick!!
Makes Me Happy!

Wow you did good Kelly. I love it all and can't wait to see what you do with it. ON the chandelier - are you sure you can't cut the candle holder things off with a dremel or hack saw..? I think if it were painted white and distressed a bit with a hanging crystal it would be so cool. What do you want to do with it?

Great finds, Kelly! I still need to get off my butt and go find a Queen headboard at a thrift store by us that I haven't been to yet. I've been told they have quite a bit of furniture. What did you pay for your King headboard? I have no idea what the prices are but was thinking $40.00 for a Queen headboard would be my limit.

That lamp is really neat. As for the chandelier, I'd pait the dangling thing and the candle holders silver/chrome, and the rest a soft sea foam blue for a soft, feminine and modern look.

Killer deals! You found some fun stuff. I really love the mirror.
I had a metal and wood chandelier, and I painted it white and LOVE it! So I'd just keep the candle holder thingies on it and paint it all a light color, then glaze it. The twisted detail on the arms would show more and so would the pretty designs on the candle holder thingies. It wouldn't look like the visual vamp's, but I think it would still be pretty fantastic.

Hi Kelly,

I love the lamp with the little gold circles on it. So unusual, are you keeping it?

Great finds, Kelly! I would leave the candle holders on the chandelier, they have such nice details on them.

That chandelier is awesome! I would paint it and hit it with some glaze. A beautiful white would be gorgeous. The big headboard reminds me of my parents growing up! I know you will make it dreamy!

I am blown away by these bargains and your amazing eye. Love the lamp, especially!

The lamp is a great find - great shape, details...how fun.

The chandelier would be beautiful outside on a porch, hung low, with candles. It would be gorgeous anywhere.

If I were you I would spray paint it white. I would also spray paint a bunch of twigs and branches white, and attach them to the chandi. You could use wire that you also spray painted. I think that would look cool.

I love your finds! I would remove all the wiring from the chandelier, paint it chippy white, put votives in it, and put it on my patio.

Nice finds, where is this place? I may need to go there! I painted a headboard for our King this past year too. I also painted mine an off white, beigey color. I didn't glaze it though cause I liked it so much the way it was without. I love the chandelier. If you are going to use it as real chandelier, why not paint it the same color as your new bed and hang it in your bedroom. If your not going to use it an electric chandelier maybe you can get some of those glass candle sconces that fit down into the lights so you can use it as a candleabra, either way I'd leave the candle holders as is, theyre very pretty! Great finds!

Great finds, Kelly Darlin'...I love your eye for things....I would verdigris the metal parts of the chandelier (you know how? if not, there are verdigris kits), and paint the wood part, then distress it...leave the candle holders, and add candles...lovely...Also, I went to a lighting store, and bought a bunch of crystals that the woman had in the back room and wired them to my Christmas tree...maybe you can find some...
Changing directions on my blog...long story...

I'm a spray it white kinda gal, so I'd paint the wood part white, however I think if it was me, I'd leave the arms the way they are and see how it looks after I get all the crystals added, (I hope there's room on the sides of the little candle holders to drill holes for crystals), then decide whether or not to paint them too. Go check out Cindy's chandy at 'My Romantic Home', yours kinda reminds me of hers...I love the little candle holders! Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it will be beautiful! Thanks for sharing! I would paint it white/cream/distress it a bit maybe overlly distress it-making it look antique-worn and adding some gems (they have at lowes for 5for $5 and some candles-you could use in a backyard- on a porch...
just a thought..
Great eye you have my friend..
P.s. that Big old Blue house- they dont want to show it to anyone who isnt pre-approved for the cheap price of one million $...
I was going to go with , ill blog about it-show pics and promote on my blog-thinking maybe someone somehwere would want it..

Thank you for stopping by my blog and joining Kelly!:) Again I do not know how you do it? The stuff you find for the prices I mean.... what great finds.

I recently wen't to a local consignment shop and a few thrift stores in my town and anything "vintage", or worth looking at was way way way over priced.

Your mirror purchase for isntance I found somehting like it here for $75.oo dollars. You are very lucky to be able to find such great things for such great prices.

Also I found two cute "vintage" chairs @ my local consignment store that were really ugly for $220.00 dollars.

I am completely jealous! :)

Have you ever tried MAAS on metals? It really works wonders! Perhaps it'd help your lamp.
