Just Delivered

I just delivered this sofa today.  It's covered in "natual" denim.  I LOVE the way this style of sofa slips up!

Her back cushions were attached.  I asked if I could cut them off and she said go for it.

It wouldn't look this classic and pretty if the pillows had still been attached.

When  you sit on it.. it feels like clean, crisp, fresh laundred sheets!
My new blog friend Gina of  Slipcover Chic  just finished one almost identical to this one.
We talk on the phone at least once a week, and keep up with eachother while we're sewing and creating our slipcovers.
If you live in NC...she's your go-to lady for custom slipcovers.
Go on over and check out her blog.  I think she has more energy than me!

Great job Kelly! I wanted you to know that you inspired me to try slip covering and I just finished 2 wingbacks that I got from the Goodwill on St. Andrews. Now I'm considering my couch. My only concern is that my family couldn't handle a project of that size. They would be standing around the island eating dinner for a month while I had everything spread out on the kitchen table! :) I wasn't sure they would live through the wingback project. As a matter of fact after a week into that project my 7yo son informed me he thought I might be obsessed with sewing! Needless to say I gave him a little economics lesson as we compared the cost of new chairs and the cost of the ones I was making! :)

I'm not sure where you get your fabric, but I just discovered that Walmart on Harbison has thick soft china twill for under under $5 per yard. I think it might have even been like $4. You may get a better deal some where else, but thought I would let you know.
Thanks for inspiring us all,
Angela

Oh that is really sharp looking! So crisp and clean looking. I never thought of cutting off an attached cushion. I have a camel back love seat that I would love to cover but didn't know how to work around the attached back. Guess I could give this a try. Great job (AGAIN), Kelly!

Hi Kelly,

I finished the couch! Of course I have you to thank for helping me get started with fabric and all. It is very similar to this one you just finished. I also had to cut off my back cushions. We are loving it now that it is done. http://chestnutsparrow.blogspot.com/2010/08/old-couchfresh-start.html
