My mother used to describe this wall color as "French Vanilla". It's a very soft yellow, or a very yellowish ivory. It' looks more yellow in the pictures.
While the room is not quite finished...there are a few extra things I'd like to add... and of course my cutains aren't hemed yet.
This is the duvet I got from the antique mall when my booth was there. I also layed a white quilted coverlet at the foot of the bed.
The bench is one of the my "coffee tables turned benches". I covered in a linen print, with a box pleated skirt.
You can also see the yellow bedskirt from my turorial HERE
Do you remember my mother's Victorian headborad (footboard)? The one I had to paint because of the damage? You can see it HERE
I also put my little armless chair, I slipcovered in white denim, in the corner. And one of my "coral" pillows for the window seat. You can see how I made them HERE
I tucked a little blanket under the window seat for wrapping up in while sitting in the chair. I have 2 little foot stools to choose from to put in front of the chair. I'll do some sort of little slipcover to the one I use.
I always save the soaps and shampoos from our vacations and I like to keep them out for guests. Some have actually used them! I also added a basket of towels to carry to the bathroom or out to the pool.
I brought this Waterfall dresser home from my shop when I closed it. I put it in here to store it, but I think it looks kind of nice.
I accessorized it with a yellow Victorian dresser box, which belonged to my mother. I put her old perfume bottle on top. Then my cranes I found at a thrift store and some pretty shells in a clear glass dish.
Here's a close up of the box. It's so beautiful.
Now for the before... or storage room... or work in progress.
And then again the after. Ahhh...I like this much better.

So calm and serene, I love it. I really like how you've used elements that belonged to your mother. I'm sentimental like that too.

Kelly, it looks great, but if I could be so bold... I would recommend raising the headboard a bit. I think it would have so much more impact and it is so beautiful , I would love for it to get it do... If you remember, I added 14 inchs to my guest room headboard and it was so easy to do. I just love everything, the calm, serene feel of the space, the colors ,5 stars for sure.
Love! How do your guests ever tear themselves away? What brand/what do you ask for to get "French Vanilla", please?
Kelly this room is stunning. I love the coffee table turned bench. You are one handy girl with the fabric! Nice going.
Thanks IsabelleAnne. I don't even remember the name of the paint. I got it at Lowes. Valspar brand. Just go to the darker ivory color chips...pick one with a soft yellow tint to it. Or go soft creamy yellow colors... and pick one with the softest, yellowish ivory tint to it. That's French Vanilla! You'll know it when you see it.

Oh Kathy the headboard is quite gorgeous...and who could be mad that you painted it? It was a bit too "heavy" looking in the before photos. The color now is such a soft white...not too creamy and not too stark and the glaze ages it perfectly. Do you remember what colors you used? Love the dresser box and your mom's perfume bottle. Can I be your first guest? :)

Simply Gorgeous! I love the way you tie in all the colors, and I love this "french vanilla", btw I have been studying your tuts for the last week, I deperately want to slip cover my wing back chairs! I did try your pleat example though. You showed such great pictures that it is easy for me to get what you are doing!
Hi Kelly~
I love your guest room! It reminds me of a beautiful "bed and breakfast" room! I love the color you have painted it! :)
I saw your tutorial for the dust ruffle from late last month, and am planning to use it for our room! (I will be sure to link to you, of course!) Our bedroom is on my list for this fall...your pictures of the guest room are very inspiring! :)
I hope you have a good night!
Blessings,
Jenni
