A quick look at what I'm working on in my spare time. I said before...the furniture talks to me.
After covering the Kitchen Chairs here...I knew I didn't want the same look in the dining room.
My train of thought...
I knew I wanted to use dropcloths. I'm in LOVE with them because of the price, and the look.
I also wanted to use some of the ivory linen in the drapes/curtains in there.
I also didn't want them too plain, because after all... It's A Dining Room!
But I couldn't use the same pleated skirt.
I also didn't want to cover the whole chair.
So I mixed the two!
I used the linen to make the little knife pleat and I think they're going to look formal enough, without being over the top or stuffy. Casual but nice.
I have 6 of these big things. All arm chairs to go around our 63" round table.
Here's my dining room. The room they are going to be in.
I can't wait to finish and show them all at once!

Kelly, love the boxed pleats! I can't wait to see it all when you are done. You have a great look going there!
Have a great weekend!

Hi Kelly! Everything looks fantastic. You have inspired me to get some drop cloths and start finger pleating!!!! In my business, I do hand painted furniture (always vintage) and wicker. We refurbish/paint the wicker and therefore do not want to put woe begotten cushions on the wicker. This drop cloth thing may just do the trick...It goes with every decore! I'm enjoying watching what you are doing! Check out my recovered cushion tutorial (not with drop cloths)and what I did with pillows and window treatments...wouldn't drop cloths work on windows too? Have a nice weekend, Karen
They look great. Your slips are always amazing! :)
You are such a talented seamstress~those are gorgeous. I think they'll look perfect in your dining room!
Kelly,
Great job on the chairs...love the look of the linen pleats! Hope you have a FUN weekend.
Blessings,
Linda
Kelly, those are going to look great. You have such a nice large and roomy dining room.
KK... I would give a vital organ for your dining room set! I absolutely love it! I also love the change that it allows! I was snooping/stalking (LOL) through your blog today and I just LOVED how you changed your dining room from winter to summer! I also LOVE your slip covers... (all of them)
My kitchen table and chairs are ugly as heck!!! LOL I purchased 4 cans of black spray paint to cover the ugly green metal. I also have a beige and black toile fabric to cover the seats. In short.. I am playing KK... lets see how it turns out. hmmmm... I cant promise that I will blog about it.. but I will certainly tell you all about my success or my big blunder. LOL

Kelly, Darlin...Dropcloths? That's brilliant...My Gussie (who is blind again)...has tossed her cookies one too many times on my upholstered, armless chairs in the kitchen..time to tackle them...what a great idea...dropcloths!
And, of course, your chairs will be fab.
XOXO

I could have sworn I posted here -sheesh.. Anyway~ Hi Kelly! You did a wonderful job on those chairs. They are lovely...dressy-but not too dressy- formal- but not too formal. GREAT job. I can't wait to see them all done. Diana
Can't wait to see the finished product! Looks like it's gonna be a good one!
And I can't wait to see them all finished in your lovely dining room! You are so talented!
You certainly have inspired me to try to sew.
You have great taste!
Love those chairs!! And all with arms! I love what you're doing, and I bet they will all look wonderful!
Kelly,
This is exactly the inspiration I needed to tackle slip covers for my DR chairs.
I am so tired of the cherry wood. I can't decide if I want to do just the seats or make little slips for the backs.
Too many projects with too many decisions!!! Yikes.
I love love love yours.
Rhonda
I wish I had your talent! BEAUTIFUL!
I love the new dinning room slips, simple yet dainty. I saw that you used painters cloth. I told someone earlier in the week that I found WHITE, not the off white, painters cloth at Lowes, it seems that it might be a new item and I am letting all the slipcover mavens know about the find. I enjoy seeing what you will cover next.
KK... That slip cover is AWESOME. I LOVE it!

I remember when you did the molding in your dining room, long before I had a blog or commented on them so I guess I'll just tell you now how beautiful I think it is!
