My First Slipcover Job From My Blog!

One day I had a comment on my blog from this very kind girl/lady  who said she lived near me and was going to go take a look at my shop.
Well, about a week later I get this phone call ,and she says she's just come out of the shop and she's sitting in the parking lot.

So we start talking and she said she had a big chair and ottoman she wanted covered.  She really loved the chair with the ties, and another one I did with a pleated skirt. She wanted ivory denim. Which I love to work with.
So... the story ends with this chair and ottoman... and getting to know one of the nicest people I've ever met.
Hi Charlene :)

I really like the way it turned out.  I've been texting her pictures along the way, but this post is the first time she'll see it finished. She'll be picking it up tonight.

I really love this chair!  It's sooooo comfortable.

Here's a good look at the ties in the back.

And one last look at the chair and ottoman together.

See you tonight Charlene!

Kelly

I love the detail in the back and the treatment at the bottom as well. It looks like a lot of work went into making this. Isn't it fun to actually meet someone who reads your blog too?

Wow....it almost like you made this for me. Oh the pains of living so far away from you. You are obviously aware how much I heart this chair and ottoman.....so smitten. It IS my Savannah chair but even better. So jealous....so very jealous.

Your work....breathtaking.

Cheers~

Congrats! I hope this leads to many more jobs as I'm sure she'll tell all of her friends how much she loves her chair and ottoman.

Kelly! That slipcovered chair looks fabulous! I haven't made it by your shop yet but can't wait to visit. You are so talented! Did you take a class in slipcovering or are you self taught? Your work is beautiful!!!! Oh & thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me such a nice comment. Yes, you did recognize Lake Murray in my pictures. We have a lot in common. Could you share with me where your favorite thrift stores are? When I 1st found your blog I thought you must be somewhere far away where they have great thrift stores & wonderful fabric deals. I was amazed when I saw that you are from my area! I never find the things that you find at the stores I frequent. Again, wonderful job on the slipcover!

You are really talented! You've inspired me to get out my sewing machine. I have a sofa that I need to replace or recover. Maybe I'll give it a try.

I think I may have been your first customer but you were inundated with requests at the time and I am far away....SO....I started to make my own (one so far) and working on my first thrift store wing chair. It's FUN! I also started a blog! You inspired me. I'm quite a fan of yours.

You did a great job I wished I could slipcover chairs but alas, I'm not handy in that. I'll just live thru you. ;)

So pretty! You are very talented! Do you mind me asking how many yards of fabric it took for the chair and ottoman? Thanks!!

Kelly @ Much To Do With Nothing said...

Hi Cindy,
This was a huge chair. I used every inch of the fabric. I would say around 9 - 10 yards for both. The chair and ottoman skirts are 7 inches long, so that took a lot of it. Here's a link for estimating slipcover fabric. I usually use less than they suggest. I squeeze out every bit I can!
Thanks for the sweet complement.

Hi Kelly.....like you new format.

If ever in the market for a toss cushion that might go well with the pleated element on your slip-coverS; take a peek at Cote de Texas Blog (Joni), and her posting on Rosemary's Beaches.
When you scroll thru the photos, I'm sure you will know which one I am referring to. When I saw it I immediately thought of you. -Brenda-
