I think they'll look awsome with white denim slipcovers against the dark wood. The slipcover will cover up all of the Brady Bunch, 70's lines and just show the dark wood on a cool, tall back chair.
You're probably asking how this will work?...?... Well, look below.
This part pops out!! I'll leave this option for the person to remove the slipcovers to wash them. It fits in very tight.
Oh here I go again! I might be the person who'll be using those chairs and washing those slipcovers. My husband says I say that about everything I bring home. Like this... Cabinet below.
Ugly! Huh? It's even one of those plastic kind. But It's So Sturdy!! Very well built! So 70's. But for some reason I like all of the "carving". And the metal on the doors reminds me of chicken wire.
And... I don't have one in my dining room. We'll see. I've started some of the painting on it. It looks much better white.
Or, the bottom half would look good in the guest room with my painted headboard. I could put the tv on it. Then I would find one of those old stereo cabinets to replace the bottom piece. Those things are everywhere around here. Some are really nice looking. That way it could be a china cabinet again.
I got these little green glass knobs at Hobby Lobby. These are in my bathroom but I got another set for this cabinet's glass doors.
Last here's an up date on one of the sofas I got.
It's giving me fits! But I think I got it under control. I'm trying to get around the curve and not have it be baggy. I had it all ready to go and had to cut off part of what I had sewn on. It's done in a natural, cream colored denim.
I'll show all of these things when they're finished. It won't be long...I keep telling my husband. :)
Thanks for taking a look, and showing interest in my work.
Kelly

So what do you think is the shipping charges from your place to mine? I can't wait to see how you transform these pieces.
Cheers~

The chairs really are beautiful, and that sideboard/china cabinet looks great!
Love the china cabinet, Kelly! It definitely is looking much better already painted white. I'll be searching for a couple of headboards {maybe after work today} at one of our local thrift stores. I hope I find something that I can transform!
Oh how I wish I lived near your shop...well maybe its good I don't...LOL! Love everything you do.
LeAnn:)
I want the couch - badly! It is exactly what I have been looking for and cannot find because our thrift stores have nothing like this. You are very talented!

Looking forward to seeing this one done! You have the eye for details, gilr. Always inspiring to see you projects. As far as finding cheap foam, I've used the crate foam toppers that are meant to go on top of beds and double the thickness. It's a little less expensive that way. Or use your 40 % off coupon at Joann's when you buy it there. Nice finds!
I just know you can make that chair, sofa and china cabinet exceptionally beautiful, Kelly. You are so talented...Christine
The yellow chairs are 'groovy'! I have no doubt they will be even more 'groovy' when you are finished. I will be so envious I have no doubt!
god you r so lucky to find those and you r so good at redoing everything. I wish i was your neighbor... mishelle
Kelly,
Like I've said before you have the best eye, and some of the best thrift stores! Can't wait to see what you do with this!

You continue to amaze me! You take things that I know for sure I would pass by in a thrift shop and turn them into things I would give an eye tooth for!
Kelly, can't wait to see how the chairs turn out!
the hutch -- too FAB.
the sofa -- aDORE it!
you're very talented.
wow! You have been very busy! I think the hutch looks great white!
Once again, you made a masterpiece! I want to go back to "His House" with a purse full of cash and "play all day...
All of it is just beautiful Kelly. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Oh, you remind me of myself, always several projects on the go at once! And yes, I did wonder how you were going to slip cover those chairs.
I think that hutch/cabinet is looking amazing so far, too much fun!!

Hey Kelly,
As soon as I get moved I am going to take on some of these projects. I have a floral wingback that I want to slipcover like you showed here: http://muchtodowithnothing.blogspot.com/2009/11/you-can-make-this-slipcoverbefore-and.html
I want a skirt for sure and maybe buttons in the back. I just love any upholstery with dressmaking details.
See ya soon ;)

I am so happy to find your blog site. You really are a genius with creating things, and I am really inspired to try the slipcover. I have a great Ethan Allen chair from GW that is begging to be slipcovered! Linda
My jaw drops everytime I see your next redo! Your awesome! My dh would kill if I had that many projects to do in HIS garage! LOL
Thanks for sharing!!!
