The Moulding Is Done! Here's The Room So Far

My room < left. Umm, I'm workin on it.           Inspiration room  > right.  Gorgeous!!

For anyone who wants to see the master bedroom so far. It's a
work in progress...
I put up the moulding, and painted this wall yellow.  Now I have to make pillows, bed skirt, and curtains.  Also, get a rug, a headborad, another second night stand and maybe different lamps. Whew!!
I have a small, round pedestal table that was my mother's, to use as one of the night stands. I may keep the sewing machine cabinet in here too. Who knows.
I'm not trying to copy the room exactly, but I really liked the wall!
I'll show the WHOLE ROOM when I finish.  Right now... Mmm not so pretty.

,
My 3 dogs keep me company while I work. This is our little rescue dog, Krew. She was the model for the picture in my other blog.
And see that round window?  I have to find some way to make it blend. I'll have to think on that one. Any suggestions? It's a major sourse of light in the room, and the moon shines in it at night. I love that!

Here's the paint color. It's called Hazelwood. I'm pretty sure it's Valspar.  I showed the chip because it's one
of the kind that has a bunch of colors on one card.
BUT BE CAREFUL!  THE BARCODE ON THE BACK MIXES THE WRONG COLOR WHEN SCANNED. HE HAD TO ACTUALLY COLOR MATCH THE COLOR ON THE CARD TO GET THE RIGHT COLOR. AFTER WASTING 2 GALLONS OF BRIGHT LEMON YELLOW PAINT. ON THE 3RD TRY...I GOT THE "HAZELWOOD".  I'M GLAD I LOOKED FIRST!
Thanks for following along with me while I complete this project!

It looks great!!! How did you do that so fast? Are you doing this all by yourself. You go girl. My husband does our manual labor like trim.

Have you ever thought of accenting the window to make it like a starburst mirror? I think it could work well with your theme and could just be moulding applied to the wall around the window if you like the light being able to come through it. Hope this helps. michele

Your molding looks great, Kelly! I have to tell you that I get exhausted just reading about all the things you do! I like the sewing cabinet there as a night stand.

For the window, what if you made something {or painted something} around the window to do like a sunburst mirror effect? Play up the window and make it almost like art.

It looks like you are well on your way to getting your dream bedroom Kelly! You've done a great job so far and I look forward to seeing the end result. I'm sure it will be fabulous! Maybe you could install small round shutters over the window???

This room is looking fantastic so far! The molding add so much to the wall! You are very fast at getting jobs done, I wish I had your speed and energy! What I want to know is how you keep your home so clean with three dogs? Our two are more than enough to leave a fur coat on floors and furniture? Any good tips? I can only attempt white in rooms which I keep our mastiff out of!

I am very impressed! Great work! So, be honest, how much work was it? I am wanting to do a similar look in our master bedroom. But, I'm not sure that I'm up for it!

You put me to shame...I am inching thru our master bedroom. I blame it on pharmacy school (I have 2 huge tests next week and had an awful one this morning). I was going to suggest a starbust mirror molding or replication. I think someone also suggested it...but I think if you could find the right framing..it would be divine. You have amazing abilities..I look forward to the end result Miss Speedy!

Cheers~

oh you're good! this is coming along great! witht he window, I think you should do something to make it look like a starburst too. that really would be nice!

Frugal Home Design said...

That is beautiful. When I first looked I thought your room was the inspiration room. Great job.

Susan said...

What if you made a custom headboard AROUND the window. Lots of curves and really accent it? That might be really cool.

Love, love, love the yellow and the mouldings. I'm thinking the wonderful round window should appear larger and more "on purpose." What if you hung a large round frame to surround it? Maybe that's what the others mean by sunburst. ??

Your room is coming along beautifully! I love that window, too. Have you thought of using a round mirror with a great frame and just removing the mirror? Might be a nice look.

Cottage Dreamers said...

It really looks beautiful! I agree that framing out the round window would look great. Easier said than done, right?! Maybe framing it using paint somehow. Lots of help, huh? Can't wait to see whatever you do!

I was going to suggest a sunburst mirror for the window but I see many others already thought the same thing!

The room is gorgeous even in its work in progress state. I so wish I had the time to do these types of projects! Maybe once my daughter is a bit older, then she can help too!

Kelly..this is sensational! Everything is coming together magically. At least on my side of the computer monitor. Bet it was labor-intensive. Are you putting it up by yourself? Hey, I love the circular window! To have the moon and stars at night must be a slice of heaven. Happy Valentine's!

Kelly, I put 'my thinking cap' on....perhaps a "ceiling medallion RIM" might work around the window.
(If you don't know what I mean, do a websearch. They come in numerous designs, price range and fabrications.)

Hope this helps. -Brenda-

I would turn the window into a focal point with some great molding and maybe some gold paint... (?) It is a great feature!

I think your room is progressing very nicely. A headboard will really make a difference. It is what my eye sees missing the most. Make it fit just under the round window and it will be so cool. Maybe find a couple of round mirrors to compliment? Can't wait to see what you do.

P.S. I love this... said...

Gorgeous! What color yellow is that? It's stunning.

I really like what you are doing in your bedroom, it will be so beautiful when you are finished. I read through several pages of your blog and I am astounded at the amount of upholstery and slipcovers you do. I have done one and that was enough. I wish I enjoyed it more. I really want to make one for my large wingback chair, but I am afraid I will get tired of the project before it is done and just waste all of the fabric.
Too bad I don't live near you, then I would just hire you to do it for me.
Love your blog, it is great. I love your kitchen, it is really beautiful, you did a good job on it. We have just about finished our kitchen remodel, it was such a huge job, but I love it so much now. I'm sure you are loving yours, too.
Hugs, Cindy S.

it turned out beautiful very classy. im very inspired to do the ssame look. i hear your looking for some suggestions, well if this was my room i think id find a decorative ceiling medallion that went with the style of the room and was just large enough to go over the window. now i wouldnt cover the window becuase you said you liked the moon shining in at night, so id trace the window opening over the middle of the medallion cut it out and then replace it over the window so that way the decorative out lining of the medallion was showing and the inside was cut for the window opening. i hope that make sence lol. any ways have fun and great job!
