This was one of those oval coffee tables with the high gloss, redish brown color. I see them everywhere. My neighbor gave it to me when her daughter moved back home from college.
I didn't get a before, but... picture it...Sicily 1928... Ha! Remember Ma from Golden Girls. I loved her!
Anyway. I painted it white and made this bird fabric slipcover for it.
Do you notice the 2 headless birds right up front on the skirt? Dag nabit! I'm not changing it. :( It's not that noticeable in real life. You kinda just see the whole bench at once.
I put a few pleats here and there. At the legs and center points.
Here's a close up of the birds. They're on that natural linen color fabric.
My inspiration for the fabric is this little guy below.
I started talking to him/her about 2 months ago. Whenever I take the dogs out, it comes and sits in the tree or on the fence and watches me. It comes to the tree now when I call it. And it's getting jealous of the other birds. It chases them away if they come anywhere near the yard. It's cute. He's become my BFF now.
It even came out after the snow. Speaking of snow. We never get it here! 3 dustings in 6 years. So you know we all had to make the most of it.
Everyone got out and played the next day. Sugar..the land shark, black lab, or nicknamed "biggun". Mija..the little orange scruffy mutt. And Krew..my soccer ball baby girl.
It was so fun! All of the neighbors were out in it. (this is a big deal for us in the South :) There's my truck that I go thirft shopping in and haul all of my furniture finds home. And it was so pretty the next day. Below.
Here's the field behind our house. The snow came Friday night, and was gone by Monday morning. My son said it was like we ordered show for the weekend.
Thanks for stopping by
Kelly

You have inspired me... again.
I just need to get up the energy to start a project. Been kinda slacking off lately. Maybe just looking at your wonderful "finished" projects is enough satisfaction for now.
Talk to you soon ;)

I could send you a before picture. That coffee table is sitting in my living room. I bought it for $20 at a combination headstone/junk store. Isn't that funny?
Your bench is lovely. How do you make sure they are strong enough to be sat upon?
Wow! That is really beautiful Kelly...awesome fabric, and the shape of the table really gives it an upscale look.
I still haven't started those slipcovers, and I won't be able to for the next month or so due to other time constraints....bummer. I hope to pick out some fabric for them soon, though.
oh my gosh, i just discovered your blog, and i've recently been pondering adding a pleated skirt to a hand-me-down coffee table shaped exactly like this one!!! i am totally going to do it now that i've seen how awesome yours turned out. and by "now" i mean after i finish the other five hundred projects i'm juggling...
Very pretty! I cant believe the snow! We haven't had any this year. I like the snow, but in a lot of ways I am glad our winter has been mild. I am ready for summer!
You are so on the ball with these things and soo full of energy its soo inspiring! Once my tinies are older I hope to be half as crafty as you are! Awesome Job on the bench, that fabric is darling!!!

Love your bench!! I re-did a coffee table with tiles that I had gotten in Spain - when I tired of that I put a pad and fabric over it to use at the end of our bed...well, now it's back as a coffee table - fun to change things up..Love your site and all your wonderful fabric ideas...I'll be back!
Great job! I'm loving the fabric. And the story about your bird friend, too cute!
We had fun in the snow as well. It brought out the kid in us!
Have a great Sunday!
I don't think anyone will notice the headless birds except you :) How cute that you have a real life birdie BFF. So funny! Looks like your pups are enjoying the snow!
