I hope I can inspire, teach or motivate anyone who reads this blog.
This room was decorated with, basically, $215.00. I'll be a little long winded on this first post.
The couch was olive green, jacquard silk. I saw it in a Salvation Army store for $100.00, and new I couldn't afford it. One day I went in and there it was for $50.00! Yeah!! I took it home. The condition was perfect, so I kept it green. Well, with a 5 year old, (who is now 13) silk couches don't hold up so well. By this time I covered it in dark brown chenille. (the color of dirt ;)
A few years later I let someone barrow it. When I got it back, I put it in storage, until we got this new house, and I had a little room to decorate and just have fun with! Yeah! again. Anyway, I painted it ivory, covered it in $4.00 per yard fabric, and put a few nickel nailhead tacs around the bottom. It became my favorite piece of furniture, AGAIN!
The table in the front of the picture was $5.00. Leather top and all! It needed cleaning up and some of the parts re-glued. Thrift store find.
The chair up front was $15.00. Olive green and stained a little, but very sturdy. The kind of pieces to look for. I covered it with $4.00 per yard fabric too. (There's a woman at the flea market with a pretty good stock of fabric for great prices.)
The hutch was $120.00. Very retro, good sturdy bones. I painted it ivory, it would have looked good painted black or any color. Another thrift store find.
The little blue piece was ivory and had a shelf top to it. Maybe a little hutch for a childs room. I only brought the bottom piece home. I spray painted it light blue.
The coffee table was a Christmas gift from my "yard sale shopping," 85 year old mother-in-law.
The small white chair was thrift store find that I painted ivory and covered in more of the flea market fabric. I also made the drapes with $4.00 fabric from the same woman.
I'll talk about drapes later!!!

It's a little hard to see, but I made the starburst mirror on the back wall. I can show that as a craft one day too. Total cost was about $15.oo.
Throw in some new and old lamps and shades, accessories, and a rug I already had, and I think the room came out pretty cute! Again all for only about $215.00.

Holy crap, French said I'd be impressed, but this went far beyond what I thought anyone could do with so little money!!!!!! Wow, the talent you have! I don't know how to sew, so I'd never be able to reupholster anything :o ( Even with all the white and ivory in the room, it still feels soooooooo warm and inviting.

Welcome to blog land. On RMS I was twintoo10292. My twin and I have started our own blog. It needs to be fine tuned a bit and we need to figure out just what direction we want to take it in but it is still a lot of fun. Come visit sometime!

Was visiting Lisa and thought I'd pop in. You are my kind of gal...a DYI-er....smiles.
Absolutely LOVE what you have done here, and will be definitely bookmarking your blog.
(If you can find the time may I suggest, that you might wish to consider putting some of your projects under "RMS Crafts". I'm sure that community would love to also see your talent.)
Sincerely, WISHING YOU AND FRENCH success in your new business adventure. -Brenda-
Hi KiaKia !!! I sooooooo remember you from RMS and I'm so glad to see your blog. You are a girl after my own heart...wish you were my neighbor...( used to live in Cola, S.C) we'd be at the thrift store treasure hunting every week! I just adore your sunroom and all of your house, for that matter. What makes it so great is that you use your creativity to make things look like a million dollars. looking forward to seeing more of your posts!
Oh my gosh!! I had no idea you jumped into bloggland! I'm so excited! Had to find your first post...and now back to read your others! I'm adding you to my blog list immediately! It will be so nice to see your pics again...especially since I don't even go to RMS anymore. You should have seen the smile on my face when I saw your pic in my followers...woohoo! And speaking of pics...you are GORGEOUS!! :-)
I am so excited to get some "KK inspiration" again and catch up via bloggland! YEEAAAAAA!! L~
I am late to the game... but just popped over to this beautiful room from "somewhere". I LOVE it. Wish I could transport it into my own home. Where did you get that glass fish? I just picked one up this summer for $1 at a garage sale, and wondered where he came from. I feel like he was meant to come to my house. Mine is blue.
I'm in shock and awe. Just $215? What wonder you are.
I've never seen nor heard of you until just now and I love you already ... someone out there teaching the world just how earth concious, economical (hate using practical words, but oh well) and downright fun thrift shopping can be, and wonderfully addictive as well. Your slipcovers designs are beautiful, as are your lovely rooms ($215 ... get outta here)! I haven't yet worked up the courage to try doing slipcovers, but am constantly 'speculating' (a less intimidating byproduct of 'procrastination') about it. Hooray for you and all those already loving you who've found you again. Congratulations on your new blog! So happy to have bumbled my way to it by googling 'ruffled slipcovers'.
